to Public Relations |
A
general overview of public relations as a four-step process.
Process application as it relates to case studies in media relations,
internal communications, community relations, public affairs, and
crisis communications. |

Production COM 110 (3 cr.) |
Acquaints
students with the basic equipment, techniques and procedures of video
production and writing. Emphasis is hands-on production in Waldorf's all-digital
video facilities. (Students should also enroll in Television Practicum
while taking this course.) |

Acquaints
students with the basic equipment, techniques and procdures of radio production
and control room operation. Emphasis is hands-on production and On-Air
performance in Wldorf's all-digital radio station, KZOW-FM 91.9. (Students
should also enroll in Radio Practicum while taking this course.) |
| Publication
Design COM 112 (3 cr.) |
The
objective is to study the whole task of putting a publication together:
copy, art, headlines, layout and design. To that end, the class will address
issues of writing, editing and artwork as well as the actual tasks of
designing newspapers, newsletters, and posters. The class will explore
technology appropriate to publication management and production. The approach
is hands-on, using Adobe InDesign to produce designs and layouts. |

Offers authentic production experience and leadership training in one or more of the campus media – radio, video, newspaper, yearbook, and web design. Required of all mass communications majors. |
